All Merchants on BettaMall are expected to comply with the following Merchant Code of Conduct when listing and selling products. Violations of these policies, including prohibited content or unfair practices, may result in suspension or termination of your BettaMall merchant account.
This policy requires that Merchants act fairly and honestly on BettaMall to ensure a safe buying and selling experience. All Merchants must:
- Always provide truthful and accurate information to BettaMall and our customers.
- Conduct business fairly and refrain from abusing BettaMall’s features or services.
- Do not attempt to harm or exploit other Merchants, their product listings, or ratings.
- Avoid manipulating or influencing customer ratings, feedback, or reviews.
- Refrain from sending unsolicited, inappropriate, or misleading communications.
- Only contact customers through BettaMall’s official Buyer-Merchant Messaging system.
- Do not try to bypass BettaMall’s sales processes or procedures.
- Maintain a single selling account on BettaMall unless there is a legitimate business need for multiple accounts.
- Comply with applicable laws and do not engage in practices such as price-fixing or unfair competition.
Violations of this Code of Conduct or other BettaMall policies may result in account-related actions, including listing removal, suspension, withholding of payments, or revocation of selling privileges.
(i) Precise information
Merchants must deliver precise and truthful information to BettaMall and customers as well. Moreover, whenever information changes, you need to update as soon as possible.
For example, your products must be listed in the right category. Additionally, your inventory data must be frequently updated and reflect exactly your operations.
(ii) Acting fairly
Merchants must act in a fair and lawful manner without misusing any service provided by BettaMall. You should avoid these following activities:
- Provide misleading, false, or inappropriate information to BettaMall or customers
- Manipulate product rankings or sales metrics, including accepting non-genuine orders, externally paid or refunded orders, or making misleading claims about sales performance in product titles or descriptions.
- Attempt to raise the price of a product after an order has been confirmed.
- Artificially inflate website traffic through automated tools, bots, or paid clicks.
- Attempt to manipulate search results by abusing keywords, incentivizing searches, or otherwise creating non-organic behaviors.
- Attempt to harm other Merchants, their product listings, or ratings.
- Allow others to act on your behalf in a manner that violates BettaMall policies or your Merchant agreement.
(iii) Ratings, Feedback and Reviews
You may not try to influence or exaggerate Buyers’ ratings, feedback and reviews. You can ask for their feedback or review but in a neutral manner. Please avoid:
- Offer payment or incentives in exchange for giving positive feedbacks or altering content
- Require customers to provide only positive reviews
- Solicit reviews solely from customers who had a good experience and impression
- Review your own products or competitors’ ones
(iv) Communications
You must contact customers through the BettaMall platform. All communications must be sent through a merchant-buyer message to solve customers’ issues and fulfill their order. Most marketing messages are not allowed.
(v) Customer information
You can collect customer data such as addresses or phone numbers just for fulfillment. However, it needs to be deleted after the order is completed.
Merchants may not use their personal information to contact them outside of the BettaMall platform. They can’t also share it with any other parties.
(vi) Bypass the selling process
Merchants may not try to bypass BettaMall’s sales processes or even redirect customers to external websites. Providing external links or communications that encourage customers to complete transactions elsewhere is prohibited.
(vii) Multiple selling accounts
Merchants may use only one selling account per region unless there is a legitimate business need for an additional one. Here are some examples of legitimate business justification:
- Own variety of brands and operate businesses for each
- Manufacture products for at least 2 distinct companies
- Participate in one of BettaMall programs that requires you to open a separate account.
Moreover, all accounts must remain in good status. If your account is not in good standing, BettaMall has the right to deactivate all merchant accounts until compliance is restored.
(viii) Submitting Intellectual Property infringement notices as an authorized agent
BettaMall recognizes that many brands may appoint authorized agents or brand protection agencies to report intellectual property infringements on their behalf, and submissions from such authorized representatives are accepted. However, Merchants who maintain active accounts are not allowed to submit infringement notices as an agent to provide a competitive advantage to their own selling account. Any merchant who submits notices in this manner to benefit their own account may face suspension or termination of their selling privileges.
